The Hope Standard sells more than 2150 papers every week, serving the 9700 area residents of this gateway community to the rugged Fraser Canyon.
The Hope Standard has been a part of the Black Community Newspaper Group since January 1997. It was originally founded in 1950, as the Hope and District Chronicle, by local businessman Ed Shirton, who was continuing a long history of lively little newspapers in the area, dating back to 1866.
Like all Black Community Newspapers, the Hope Standard takes an active role in its community through its support of the local Chamber of Commerce and such community events as Hope Brigade Days, and the World Class Chainsaw Carving Competition.
